BEST committed to Sustainability

It has been a year since our 10th anniversary celebration, and we are pleased to announce that we have now completed the planting of the 600 trees we pledged to plant on behalf of all attendees at the event.

To achieve this, we joined forces with Bosquia, a social enterprise with a clear vision: to care for and protect our forests. Our collaboration has made the reforestation project a reality, planting 600 trees in an area burnt down in 1974 in Maçanet de la Selva, Girona, which can be visited (ubication of the forest). This joint initiative reinforces our commitment to promoting a sustainable future.

This new forest significantly contributes to air quality improvement, preserving biodiversity and protecting natural resources. The trees we have planted will absorb 79.46 tonnes of CO2, helping to combat climate change, create a habitat for local wildlife and provide a natural space for the community to enjoy and connect with nature.

We would like to express our deep gratitude to all those who attended our 10th anniversary ceremony and supported us in this incredible initiative. Your support and participation have been critical to the success of this endeavour. We would also like to thank Bosquia for their dedication and passion in protecting our forests, as well as for being our valuable partners in this green adventure.

At BEST, we have been operating sustainably in the Port of Barcelona for more than 10 years, and we are committed to continue promoting sustainability and protecting the environment. We strongly believe in the importance of collaborating with companies and organisations that share our vision of a greener and healthier future for generations to come.

We will continue to work to maintain and strengthen our position as a leader in sustainable port operations, continually seeking new ways to minimise our environmental impact and contribute to the well-being of our community and the planet.

HUTCHISON PORTS COMMITS TO SETTING SCIENCE-BASED TARGETS TO REACH NET-ZERO BY 2050

Hutchison Ports is officially committed to setting both near-term and net-zero targets in line with the Science Based Targets initiative’s (SBTi) net-zero standard. Recognising the risks and opportunities associated with climate change, Hutchison Ports is committed to developing a decarbonisation strategy across the Group. A net-zero strategic roadmap has been developed which takes into account the past emissions pattern, future plan on electrification of fleet, adoption of renewable energy and alternative fuel.

Through this commitment, Hutchison Ports also becomes part of the Business Ambition for 1.5°C and Race to Zero campaigns.
